We could have named this page, “What is self-leveling concrete and why do we use it” because that is basically the question that we are going to answer. Self-leveling concrete is sort of wrongfully labeled. In reality, it is not just going to adjust perfectly, without you having to make in alterations what so ever. Applying this type of concrete though is a lot easier on the worker. There is no denying that. The true benefits that it brings to you as a customer are not that we are going to work less. Then again, having a quicker finish is not a bad thing either!
Using Less Water
One of the benefits that you are going to be able to get from using self-leveling concrete is the fact that you will be using less water to be able to set it up correctly. The benefit from this is not only that you are going to be saving water, but also there is a less of a chance to develop moisture issues in the concrete right off the bat. Also, it is going to be a cleaner process overall. If you have ever been around people who are working with wet concrete it can get pretty messy. Self-leveling concrete helps avoid some of that mess.
A lot of times with regular concrete we are going to end up using a bit more cement to be able to cover an area. At the end of the day when it dries out, it can turn into a thicker, bulkier surface. With self-leveling concrete, since we are not going to be literally fighting the mixture of cement and water to try and spread it all over the place it usually produces better results. The surface is going to look and feel smoother. Which is always a good sign!
Great For Interiors
This type of concrete can be used to create all sorts of floors, and paths. We typically like to use it on interiors though. That is mainly because we know that the floor is going to end up being smoother. You can take rougher paths on the outdoors, but having floors indoors that can literally rip through your sox is never a good idea. Also, since we are going to be making less of a mess it makes it easier to use on interiors. You won’t have to worry about the consequences of having a concrete company come through your home!
It Can Be Placed Over All Sorts of Surfaces
Self-leveling concrete is so smooth and light, that it can actually be placed over all sorts of surfaces. If you want to place it over wood to redo the floors on a deck you will be able to do so. This can actually help bring the cost of major renovation services down. If you have a metal structure that you want to help pave basically, you can also use this type of concrete. In our opinion, it really opens up the possibilities!
