There are a couple of things that we want to make sure we get across in the right light, about polished concrete. The first thing that we want people to realize is that a proper polished concrete job involves a process. What we mean by that is, that you can’t expect someone to just come in and start painting the concrete flooring and hope to get the best results. It is not just about applying coats of paint without any real care. Allowing the surface to dry out properly is key towards the overall success of the entire process. With a little skill and a bit of patience, you can end up having great looking floors!
Trust The Process
This phrase was taken over by a sports team and ever since it just hasn’t been the same. We are not trying to jump on the bandwagon. We have actually used this phrase to promote our polished concrete services for years. To be able to obtain the best results you really need to take things step by step. Applying different layers of paint or special coating at ones can have the opposite effect. We want the ground to be just right, not overly bulky looking and bumpy!
Preparing The Actual Concrete
The first thing that we are actually going to want to do is to prepare the concrete to be able to apply the first layer of concrete coating. What we mean by preparing is that we are going to make sure we clean up the area correctly. At least to the best of our ability. If the concrete has some cracks we are going to have to seal those off first and allow that to dry. That is one of the reasons that it tends to take a little while before you can actually see the finished product.
Design & Colors
There are different types of colors and designs that can be applied to the concrete flooring. We have had all sorts of requests from clients before that are looking for a specific tone. On other occasions, people want to bring in an artist to go through the design. One thing that we have seen is that companies will throw some sparkles on the floor and call it design. We can pay a bit more attention to that if that is something that you are looking for. If you are looking for a very specific design we can also help provide that!
People always ask if it is a good idea to bring fans to make sure that the surface dries out quicker and things like that. We are not necessarily against that. If we are going to bring in fans and try to speed up the drying process we are going to do so very carefully. The last thing that we want is to bring in dust and other types of particles or even trash onto the surface as it is drying out. If you want to help the surface dry let us know before you turn on a fan to our work. If not done properly it can be counter productive!
